The MCSA course is an ideal qualification for anyone looking to get into supporting networks. Whether you’re about to get going or already have knowledge but want a professional course with an acknowledged certification, it’s possible to achieve your goals with the right training. For someone just entering the world of computers, it could be appropriate to have some coaching prior to having a go at your 1st of 4 MCP exams needed to pass the MCSA. Identify a training company that will create an ideal program to fit your requirements - with a team of advisors who will guide you to make sure that you make the right choices. A so-called advisor who doesn’t question you thoroughly - the likelihood is they’re actually nothing more than a salesman. If they push a particular product before learning about your history and experience, then it’s definitely the case. If you’ve got any live experience or qualifications, you may find that your starting point is very different to someone completely new. If this is going to be your first effort at studying for an IT examination then you might also want to begin with some basic user skills first. One fatal mistake that we encounter all too often is to focus entirely on getting a qualification, and not focus on the end result they want to achieve. Schools are stacked to the hilt with unaware students who chose a course based on what sounded good - in place of something that could gain them the job they want. Students often train for a single year but end up doing the job for 20 years. Don’t make the mistake of finding what seems like an ‘interesting’ course only to waste your life away with an unrewarding career! Make sure you investigate what your attitude is towards career progression and earning potential, and whether you intend to be quite ambitious. You should understand what the role will demand of you, which qualifications will be required and how you’ll gain real-world experience. It’s good advice for all students to speak with an experienced industry advisor before they make a decision on a particular retraining program. This is essential to ensure it contains the commercially required skills for the career that is sought. A useful feature that many training companies provide is a Job Placement Assistance program. The service is put in place to steer you into your first IT role. Don’t get overly impressed with this service - it isn’t unusual for eager sales people to make too much of it. Ultimately, the massive skills shortage in Great Britain is why employers will be interested in you. Work on polishing up your CV right away however (advice can be sought on this via your provider). Don’t delay until you’ve graduated or passed any exams. You’ll often find that you’ll land your initial role whilst still on the course (even when you’ve just left first base). If your CV doesn’t show your latest training profile (and it isn’t in the hands of someone with jobs to offer) then you won’t even be considered! You can usually expect better results from an independent and specialised local recruitment consultancy than you’ll experience from any course provider’s national service, as they’ll know the local area and commercial needs better. Various men and women, it seems, put a great deal of effort into their studies (for years sometimes), and then just stop instead of attempting to secure a good job. Promote yourself… Make an effort to put yourself out there. Good jobs don’t just knock on your door. One area often overlooked by new students thinking about a course is the issue of ‘training segmentation’. Essentially, this is the method used to break up the program for timed release to you, which vastly changes where you end up. By and large, you will purchase a course taking 1-3 years and receive one element at a time until graduation. This sounds logical on one level, until you consider this: What happens when you don’t complete each and every exam? What if you don’t find their order of learning is ideal for you? Because of nothing that’s your fault, you mightn’t complete everything fast enough and not get all the study materials as a result. For maximum flexibility and safety, it’s not unusual for students to insist that all study materials are posted to them in one go, with nothing held back. It’s then up to you in which order and at what speed you want to go. (C) 2009 S. Edwards. Go to CLICK HERE or CCNA Course. |
