It looks as though there will be an increase in the number of gamers over the age of 60. This would be largely due to an increase in the amount of video games introduced as senior activities in senior centers and nursing homes. These are aimed at helping to keep the minds of the seniors more active.

This is not looking good. There are bingo halls that need your patronage. There are golf courses who need someone to slow up the play for everyone else. You are suppose to be playing a most uncompetitive game of bowling or slow-motion tennis, while minding your hip. You should be getting outdoors and getting some fresh air not sitting in front of that screen the whole time.

How about the fact, never mind it has been totally debunked by science, that violent games lead to violent behavior? So what’s next, old people beating each other to death with their canes and oxygen tanks? Well, it could happen, I can see it now in the headlines “17 people caned and tanked to death at senior citizen home when seniors go crazy after losing a PC video game to staff members”. Well, it could happen.

Why play games? Apparently it is actually for a good reason. By playing video games your mind would get stimulated and keep it active. Your reflexes would stay sharp, your decision making would be crisp and your hand eye co-ordination would be looking good. Now where is all of that “it rots your brain” stuff? Apparently that is not the case for old people.

Wonderful how these things can be twisted to work in favor of those who want it to. Down with the man! Overall it looks like a bad idea, but just think of it in this way: Just imagine how much money we can win off them. It is all good and well that they are playing video games. No one ever said anything about them being good at it.

Playing a puzzle game like mahjong cook or parking mania can also help to spark those old minds.
